The things that we let others do in our name
In our pursuit of modernisation.
We got diverted. We let others steer us.
We tolerated the congestion and inconvenience.
Ah... it will be just for a short while , we convinced ourselves.
It will be for a better future - we promised each other
We let them fell the trees that filtered the air that we breathe
so that we can build bigger roads.
We let them dried the land that wet the earth when it rains
so that we can build more dwellings
they did this on our behalf , our behest
Alas, we heed not our own warnings
we ignore the signs
in our pursuit for modernisation
Behold the cost of our ignorance.,
the consequences of our (in) actions
the price we have to pay.
We will pay - no doubt.,
either we pay now or the future generation will pay.
we pay the consequences of our actions -
in kind -unfortunately - painfully
floods , land slides, haze
pay now or later
we will pay.
